Over 39 years ago, a group of local business leaders, elected officials and visionary community members broke ground on an ambitious project – the construction of an entertainment facility that would bring the Nation’s biggest stars and best entertainment to the people of Maine. Their mission was to excite and enrich the good people and businesses that call this beautiful region home. They built something truly special in the process.
Over 5,600 events and 17,633,239 guests later, the newly renovated Cross Insurance Arena (formerly the Cumberland County Civic Center) will continue to deliver on this important mission:
As the host of diverse acts – from Elton John to Alan Jackson, John Mayer to Amy Schumer – The Cross Insurance Arena continues to showcase national-caliber talent.
- As a platform for unique family entertainment – from Disney on Ice to Sesame Street Live, The Harlem Globetrotters to American Idol – Cross Insurance Arena continues to connect, surprise and inspire us.
- As Southern Maine’s favorite backdrop for inspired local performances – from state championship sports to high school graduations – Cross Insurance Arena continues to shine a light on our best and brightest.
Put more simply, Cross Insurance Arena is truly “Where the Stars Shine.” Check out Who Played When to get a taste of where we’ve been.
Today – like yesterday – a committed group of inspired people continue Cross Insurance Arena's important mission. From our exceptional staff and volunteer Board of Trustees to the generous support of our naming rights partner Cross Insurance, and our first Founding Partners, the Libra Foundation and On Target Utilities, we are working harder than ever to position Cross Insurance Arena for continued success. Working together – and with the help of people like you – we will keep the stars shining here for many years to come.
